Shakhtar’s opponents in the Champions League have played their games in the domestic leagues.
Nordsjælland got a confident 3-0 win over Esbjerg. On 32 minutes John put the hosts in front. At the beginning of the second half Lorentzen doubled the lead.
With a couple of minutes remaining before the final whistle, Stokholm netted Nordsjælland’s third goal. It should also be noted that on 49 minutes Esbjerg was reduced to ten players.

Chelsea again scored after a dead-ball situation. This time it was Mata who got on the scoresheet.

Finally, Juventus – which Shakhtar will face on October 2 – got a comprehensive 4-1 won over Roma. On 11 minutes Pirlo planted a free-kick into the right-hand corner of the net. After literally five minutes, Vidal converted a penalty awarded for handling the ball inside the penalty box. On 19 minutes Matri bore down on goal to make it 3-0. In the second half both teams scored one goal each: Osvaldo for Roma and Giovinco for Juventus.
